The skid plate looks good, feels solid and provides a noticeable aerodynamic improvement on the highway in comparison to no under tray. I also noticed that the reduced airflow over the gearbox allowed for smoother shifts (manual 6speed) as the transmission oil was able to get up to temperature easier, and there may have been a slight increase in chassis stiffness. Oil change was not an issue. Be warned though! This product does not fit the cabriolet models (such as my 2004 A4 B6 Cabrio), as the chassis-braces on the convertibles get in the way of the elevated posterior portion of the engine skid plate. My mechanic was able to fit the skid plate anyway by trimming away a part of the vertical portion, which allowed for the skid plate to be slid into place while the chassis brace fit in the slot that was trimmed away. The skid plate pressing on the chassis brace may actually be what caused the additional chassis stiffness. It would be 5 stars if the description of the product stated that it did not fit cabriolet models.

The skid plate did not unfortunately fit correctly immediately but was in contact with the engine and caused severe resonance and vibrations and required additional work by the car shop.

The guard is excellent, when I bought the car the under trays were missing and expensive to replace, so searched for a permanent replacement. There is one issue however, there isn't a cut out for the sump plug like the other vag car trays.

Der Unterfahrschutz passt bei meinem Fahrzeug leider nicht korrekt. Die Befestigungspunkte bzw. die Passform stimmen nicht ausreichend mit dem Fahrzeug überein. Ich habe das Teil einer Fachwerkstatt zur Montage übergeben. Diese hat die Montage abgelehnt. Neben der nicht passenden Befestigung wurden auch Bedenken hinsichtlich des hohen Gewichts und möglicher daraus resultierender Belastungen bzw. Folgeschäden geäußert. Auch die Eintragungsfähigkeit wurde von der Werkstatt kritisch gesehen. Ob diese technischen bzw. rechtlichen Bedenken tatsächlich zutreffen, kann ich selbst nicht beurteilen. Besonders enttäuschend war für mich allerdings der Umgang mit meiner Reklamation: Ich habe dem Verkäufer Fotos geschickt, auf denen die Einbausituation und die Abweichungen zu sehen sind. Eine Rücknahme wurde dennoch abgelehnt. Statt sich mit den konkreten Abweichungen auseinanderzusetzen, wurde im Wesentlichen lediglich darauf verwiesen, dass der Unterfahrschutz passen müsse. Für mich ist das keine zufriedenstellende Lösung. Wenn ein als passend angebotenes Bauteil tatsächlich nicht korrekt montiert werden kann und selbst eine Fachwerkstatt die Montage ablehnt, erwarte ich vom Verkäufer zumindest eine konstruktive Klärung und nicht lediglich die Aussage, dass es passen müsse. Daher kann ich das Produkt bzw. meine Erfahrung mit der Reklamationsabwicklung leider nicht positiv bewerten.

Non of the original bolt holes were used. Every connection to the car frame was through a cutout in the frame using a nut and a bolt. Inconvenient and unsafe! That makes the installation unnecessarily difficult. and now imagine every time you have to take it off for something and then putting it back. The rearrest connection did not exist on my car for the transmission shield. How hard wold it be to use the existing boltholes? The cutout for the oil drainage is 3x larger then original - jet it is made so that it would still spill on the installed under-body protection. Anyone who is capable of installing this should also be capable of buy sheet metal, cutting it into shape, bending it, painting it and having a better result then that here.
